³⁶ “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

³⁷ Now when they heard this, ^(A)they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, ^(B)“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the ^[a]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For the promise is to you and ^(C)to your children, and ^(D)to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

A Vital Church Grows

⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this ^[b]perverse generation.” ⁴¹ Then those who ^[c]gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. ^42 (E)And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ ^[d]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

The Great Commission^(A)

^14 (B)Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. ^15 (C)And He said to them, “Go into all the world ^(D)and preach the gospel to every creature. ^16 (E)He who believes and is baptized will be saved; ^(F)but he who does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these ^(G)signs will follow those who ^[a]believe: ^(H)In My name they will cast out demons; ^(I)they will speak with new tongues; ^18 (J)they^[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; ^(K)they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
