6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain (A)magician, (B)a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with (C)the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the (D)magician (for that is the meaning of his name) (E)opposed them, seeking to turn (F)the proconsul away from the faith.

New International Version
6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer(A) and false prophet(B) named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an attendant of the proconsul,(C) Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer(D) (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul(E) from the faith.(F)
