(A)Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, came to David and (B)fell on his face and prostrated himself. And David said, “Mephibosheth.” And he said, “Here is your servant!” Then David said to him, “Do not be afraid, for (C)I will assuredly show kindness to you for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I (D)will restore to you all the [a]land of your [b]grandfather Saul; and (E)you yourself shall [c]eat at my table regularly.” Again he prostrated himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should be concerned about (F)a dead dog like me?”

Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said to him, “(G)Everything that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s [d]grandson. 10 You and your sons and your servants shall cultivate the land for him, and you shall bring in the produce so that your master’s grandson will have food [e]to eat; nevertheless (H)Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, (I)shall [f]eat at my table regularly.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11 Then Ziba said to the king, “In accordance (J)with everything that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So Mephibosheth ate at [g]David’s table as one of the king’s sons. 12 Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica. When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(A)

David said, “Mephibosheth!”

“At your service,” he replied.

“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(B) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(C)

Mephibosheth(D) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog(E) like me?”

Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson(F) may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)

11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s[a] table like one of the king’s sons.(G)

12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.(H) 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.
