¹⁴ I will be his father, and he will be my son.^(A) When he does wrong, I will punish him^(B) with a rod^(C) wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. ¹⁵ But my love will never be taken away from him,^(D) as I took it away from Saul,^(E) whom I removed from before you. ¹⁶ Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me^[a]; your throne^(F) will be established^(G) forever.^(H)’”

¹⁹ “But if you^[a] turn away^(A) and forsake^(B) the decrees and commands I have given you^[b] and go off to serve other gods and worship them,

²⁰ then I will uproot^(A) Israel from my land,^(B) which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule^(C) among all peoples.
