²⁶ The gates^(A) of Zion will lament and mourn;^(B)
    destitute,^(C) she will sit on the ground.^(D)

¹¹ The desert owl^[a](A) and screech owl^[b] will possess it;
    the great owl^[c] and the raven^(B) will nest there.
God will stretch out over Edom^(C)
    the measuring line of chaos^(D)
    and the plumb line^(E) of desolation.

⁵ So I will go to the leaders^(A)
    and speak to them;
surely they know the way of the Lord,
    the requirements of their God.”
But with one accord they too had broken off the yoke
    and torn off the bonds.^(B)

¹⁰ “Go through her vineyards and ravage them,
    but do not destroy them completely.^(A)
Strip off her branches,
    for these people do not belong to the Lord.

² “Judah mourns,^(A)
    her cities languish;
they wail for the land,
    and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.
