2 Corintios 11:1-13:13

11 ¡Ojalá me toleraseis un poco de locura! Sí, toleradme. 2 Porque os celo con celo de Dios; pues os he desposado con un solo esposo, para presentaros como una virgen pura a Cristo. 3 Pero temo que como la serpiente con su astucia engañó a Eva,(A) vuestros sentidos sean de alguna manera extraviados de la sincera fidelidad a Cristo. 4 Porque si viene alguno predicando a otro Jesús que el que os hemos predicado, o si recibís otro espíritu que el que habéis recibido, u otro evangelio que el que habéis aceptado, bien lo toleráis; 5 y pienso que en nada he sido inferior a aquellos grandes apóstoles. 6 Pues aunque sea tosco en la palabra, no lo soy en el conocimiento; en todo y por todo os lo hemos demostrado. 7 ¿Pequé yo humillándome a mí mismo, para que vosotros fueseis enaltecidos, por cuanto os he predicado el evangelio de Dios de balde? 8 He despojado a otras iglesias, recibiendo salario para serviros a vosotros. 9 Y cuando estaba entre vosotros y tuve necesidad, a ninguno fui carga, pues lo que me faltaba, lo suplieron los hermanos que vinieron de Macedonia,(B) y en todo me guardé y me guardaré de seros gravoso. 10 Por la verdad de Cristo que está en mí, que no se me impedirá esta mi gloria en las regiones de Acaya. 11 ¿Por qué? ¿Porque no os amo? Dios lo sabe.

12 Mas lo que hago, lo haré aún, para quitar la ocasión a aquellos que la desean, a fin de que en aquello en que se glorían, sean hallados semejantes a nosotros. 13 Porque estos son falsos apóstoles, obreros fraudulentos, que se disfrazan como apóstoles de Cristo. 14 Y no es maravilla, porque el mismo Satanás se disfraza como ángel de luz. 15 Así que, no es extraño si también sus ministros se disfrazan como ministros de justicia; cuyo fin será conforme a sus obras.

Sufrimientos de Pablo como apóstol

16 Otra vez digo: Que nadie me tenga por loco; o de otra manera, recibidme como a loco, para que yo también me gloríe un poquito. 17 Lo que hablo, no lo hablo según el Señor, sino como en locura, con esta confianza de gloriarme. 18 Puesto que muchos se glorían según la carne, también yo me gloriaré; 19 porque de buena gana toleráis a los necios, siendo vosotros cuerdos. 20 Pues toleráis si alguno os esclaviza, si alguno os devora, si alguno toma lo vuestro, si alguno se enaltece, si alguno os da de bofetadas. 21 Para vergüenza mía lo digo, para eso fuimos demasiado débiles.

Pero en lo que otro tenga osadía (hablo con locura), también yo tengo osadía. 22 ¿Son hebreos? Yo también. ¿Son israelitas? Yo también. ¿Son descendientes de Abraham? También yo. 23 ¿Son ministros de Cristo? (Como si estuviera loco hablo.) Yo más; en trabajos más abundante; en azotes sin número; en cárceles(C) más; en peligros de muerte muchas veces. 24 De los judíos cinco veces he recibido cuarenta azotes menos uno.(D) 25 Tres veces he sido azotado con varas;(E) una vez apedreado;(F) tres veces he padecido naufragio; una noche y un día he estado como náufrago en alta mar; 26 en caminos muchas veces; en peligros de ríos, peligros de ladrones, peligros de los de mi nación,(G) peligros de los gentiles,(H) peligros en la ciudad, peligros en el desierto, peligros en el mar, peligros entre falsos hermanos; 27 en trabajo y fatiga, en muchos desvelos, en hambre y sed, en muchos ayunos, en frío y en desnudez; 28 y además de otras cosas, lo que sobre mí se agolpa cada día, la preocupación por todas las iglesias. 29 ¿Quién enferma, y yo no enfermo? ¿A quién se le hace tropezar, y yo no me indigno?

30 Si es necesario gloriarse, me gloriaré en lo que es de mi debilidad. 31 El Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, quien es bendito por los siglos, sabe que no miento. 32 En Damasco, el gobernador de la provincia del rey Aretas guardaba la ciudad de los damascenos para prenderme; 33 y fui descolgado del muro en un canasto por una ventana, y escapé de sus manos.(I)

El aguijón en la carne

12 Ciertamente no me conviene gloriarme; pero vendré a las visiones y a las revelaciones del Señor. 2 Conozco a un hombre en Cristo, que hace catorce años (si en el cuerpo, no lo sé; si fuera del cuerpo, no lo sé; Dios lo sabe) fue arrebatado hasta el tercer cielo. 3 Y conozco al tal hombre (si en el cuerpo, o fuera del cuerpo, no lo sé; Dios lo sabe), 4 que fue arrebatado al paraíso, donde oyó palabras inefables que no le es dado al hombre expresar. 5 De tal hombre me gloriaré; pero de mí mismo en nada me gloriaré, sino en mis debilidades. 6 Sin embargo, si quisiera gloriarme, no sería insensato, porque diría la verdad; pero lo dejo, para que nadie piense de mí más de lo que en mí ve, u oye de mí. 7 Y para que la grandeza de las revelaciones no me exaltase desmedidamente, me fue dado un aguijón en mi carne, un mensajero de Satanás que me abofetee, para que no me enaltezca sobremanera; 8 respecto a lo cual tres veces he rogado al Señor, que lo quite de mí. 9 Y me ha dicho: Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad. Por tanto, de buena gana me gloriaré más bien en mis debilidades, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo. 10 Por lo cual, por amor a Cristo me gozo en las debilidades, en afrentas, en necesidades, en persecuciones, en angustias; porque cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte.

11 Me he hecho un necio al gloriarme; vosotros me obligasteis a ello, pues yo debía ser alabado por vosotros; porque en nada he sido menos que aquellos grandes apóstoles, aunque nada soy. 12 Con todo, las señales de apóstol han sido hechas entre vosotros en toda paciencia, por señales, prodigios y milagros. 13 Porque ¿en qué habéis sido menos que las otras iglesias, sino en que yo mismo no os he sido carga? ¡Perdonadme este agravio!

Pablo anuncia su tercera visita

14 He aquí, por tercera vez estoy preparado para ir a vosotros; y no os seré gravoso, porque no busco lo vuestro, sino a vosotros, pues no deben atesorar los hijos para los padres, sino los padres para los hijos. 15 Y yo con el mayor placer gastaré lo mío, y aun yo mismo me gastaré del todo por amor de vuestras almas, aunque amándoos más, sea amado menos. 16 Pero admitiendo esto, que yo no os he sido carga, sino que como soy astuto, os prendí por engaño, 17 ¿acaso os he engañado por alguno de los que he enviado a vosotros? 18 Rogué a Tito, y envié con él al hermano. ¿Os engañó acaso Tito? ¿No hemos procedido con el mismo espíritu y en las mismas pisadas?

19 ¿Pensáis aún que nos disculpamos con vosotros? Delante de Dios en Cristo hablamos; y todo, muy amados, para vuestra edificación. 20 Pues me temo que cuando llegue, no os halle tales como quiero, y yo sea hallado de vosotros cual no queréis; que haya entre vosotros contiendas, envidias, iras, divisiones, maledicencias, murmuraciones, soberbias, desórdenes; 21 que cuando vuelva, me humille Dios entre vosotros, y quizá tenga que llorar por muchos de los que antes han pecado, y no se han arrepentido de la inmundicia y fornicación y lascivia que han cometido.

13 Esta es la tercera vez que voy a vosotros. Por boca de dos o de tres testigos(J) se decidirá todo asunto. 2 He dicho antes, y ahora digo otra vez como si estuviera presente, y ahora ausente lo escribo a los que antes pecaron, y a todos los demás, que si voy otra vez, no seré indulgente; 3 pues buscáis una prueba de que habla Cristo en mí, el cual no es débil para con vosotros, sino que es poderoso en vosotros. 4 Porque aunque fue crucificado en debilidad, vive por el poder de Dios. Pues también nosotros somos débiles en él, pero viviremos con él por el poder de Dios para con vosotros.

5 Examinaos a vosotros mismos si estáis en la fe; probaos a vosotros mismos. ¿O no os conocéis a vosotros mismos, que Jesucristo está en vosotros, a menos que estéis reprobados? 6 Mas espero que conoceréis que nosotros no estamos reprobados. 7 Y oramos a Dios que ninguna cosa mala hagáis; no para que nosotros aparezcamos aprobados, sino para que vosotros hagáis lo bueno, aunque nosotros seamos como reprobados. 8 Porque nada podemos contra la verdad, sino por la verdad. 9 Por lo cual nos gozamos de que seamos nosotros débiles, y que vosotros estéis fuertes; y aun oramos por vuestra perfección. 10 Por esto os escribo estando ausente, para no usar de severidad cuando esté presente, conforme a la autoridad que el Señor me ha dado para edificación, y no para destrucción.

Saludos y doxología final

11 Por lo demás, hermanos, tened gozo, perfeccionaos, consolaos, sed de un mismo sentir, y vivid en paz; y el Dios de paz y de amor estará con vosotros. 12 Saludaos unos a otros con ósculo santo. 13 Todos los santos os saludan.

Paul Defends His Apostleship

11 I wish that you would (A)bear with me in a little (B)foolishness; but [a]indeed you are bearing with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I (C)betrothed you to one husband, to (D)present you as a pure virgin to Christ. 3 But I am afraid that, as the (E)serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if [b]one comes and preaches (F)another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a (G)different spirit which you have not received, or a (H)different gospel which you have not accepted, this you (I)tolerate (J)very well! 5 For I consider myself (K)not in the least inferior to the [c]most eminent apostles. 6 But even if I am (L)unskilled in speech, yet I am not so in (M)knowledge; in fact, in every way we have (N)made this evident to you in all things.

7 Or (O)did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the (P)gospel of God to you (Q)without charge? 8 I robbed other churches by (R)taking wages from them to serve you; 9 and when I was present with you and was in need, I was (S)not a burden to anyone; for when (T)the brothers came from (U)Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from (V)being a burden to you, [d]and will continue to do so. 10 (W)As the truth of Christ is in me, (X)this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of (Y)Achaia. 11 Why? (Z)Because I do not love you? (AA)God knows that I do!

12 But what I am doing I will also continue to do, (AB)so that I may eliminate the opportunity from those who want an opportunity to be [e]regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13 For such men are (AC)false apostles, (AD)deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even (AE)Satan disguises himself as an (AF)angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, (AG)whose end will be according to their deeds.

16 (AH)Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17 What I am saying, I am not saying [f](AI)as the Lord would, but as (AJ)in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18 Since (AK)many boast (AL)according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19 For you, (AM)being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly. 20 For you tolerate it if anyone (AN)enslaves you, if anyone (AO)devours you, if anyone (AP)takes advantage of you, if anyone (AQ)exalts himself, if anyone (AR)hits you in the face. 21 To my (AS)shame I must say that we have been (AT)weak by comparison.

But in whatever respect anyone else (AU)is bold—I am (AV)speaking in foolishness—I too am bold. 22 Are they (AW)Hebrews? (AX)So am I. Are they (AY)Israelites? (AZ)So am I. Are they [g](BA)descendants of Abraham? (BB)So am I. 23 Are they (BC)servants of Christ?—I am speaking as if insane—I more so; in (BD)far more labors, in (BE)far more imprisonments, [h](BF)beaten times without number, often in danger of (BG)death. 24 Five times I received from the Jews (BH)thirty-nine lashes. 25 Three times I was (BI)beaten with rods, once I was (BJ)stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. 26 I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my (BK)countrymen, dangers from the (BL)Gentiles, dangers in the (BM)city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among (BN)false brothers; 27 I have been in (BO)labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in (BP)hunger and thirst, often (BQ)without food, in cold and [i](BR)exposure. 28 Apart from such [j]external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for (BS)all the churches. 29 Who is (BT)weak without my being weak? Who is [k]led into sin [l]without my intense concern?

30 If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my (BU)weakness. 31 The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, (BV)He who is blessed forever, (BW)knows that I am not lying. 32 In (BX)Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was (BY)guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me, 33 and I was let down in a basket (BZ)through a window [m]in the wall, and so escaped his hands.

Paul’s Vision

12 (CA)Boasting is necessary, though it is not beneficial; but I will go on to visions and (CB)revelations [n]of the Lord. 2 I know a man (CC)in Christ, who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, (CD)God knows—such a man was (CE)caught up to the (CF)third heaven. 3 And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, (CG)God knows— 4 was (CH)caught up into (CI)Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. 5 (CJ)In behalf of such a man I will boast; but in my own behalf I will not boast, except regarding my (CK)weaknesses. 6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be (CL)foolish, (CM)for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.

A Thorn in the Flesh

7 Because of the extraordinary greatness of the (CN)revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given to me a (CO)thorn in the flesh, a (CP)messenger of Satan to [o]torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I pleaded with the Lord (CQ)three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for (CR)power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather (CS)boast [p]about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore (CT)I delight in weaknesses, in [q]insults, in (CU)distresses, in (CV)persecutions, in (CW)difficulties, (CX)in behalf of Christ; for (CY)when I am weak, then I am strong.

11 I have become (CZ)foolish; you yourselves compelled me. Actually I should have been commended by you, since I was (DA)in no respect inferior to the [r]most eminent apostles, even though (DB)I am a nobody. 12 The (DC)distinguishing marks [s]of a true apostle were performed among you with all perseverance, by [t]signs, wonders, and [u]miracles. 13 For in what respect were you treated as inferior to the rest of the churches, except that (DD)I myself did not become a burden to you? Forgive me (DE)this wrong!

14 Here (DF)for this third time I am ready to come to you, and I (DG)will not be a burden to you; for I (DH)do not seek what is yours, but (DI)you; for (DJ)children are not responsible to save up for their parents, but (DK)parents for their children. 15 I will (DL)most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If (DM)I love you more, am I to be loved less? 16 But be that as it may, I (DN)did not burden you myself; nevertheless, devious person that I am, I (DO)took you in by deceit. 17 (DP)Certainly I have not taken advantage of you through any of those whom I have sent to you, have I? 18 I (DQ)urged (DR)Titus to go, and I sent (DS)the brother with him. Titus did not take any advantage of you, did he? Did we not [v]conduct ourselves [w]in the same (DT)spirit and walk (DU)in the same steps?

19 All this time [x]you have been thinking that we are defending ourselves to you. Actually, (DV)it is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ; and (DW)all for building you up, (DX)beloved. 20 For I am afraid that perhaps (DY)when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be (DZ)strife, jealousy, (EA)angry tempers, (EB)selfishness, (EC)slanders, (ED)gossip, (EE)arrogance, (EF)disturbances; 21 I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have (EG)sinned in the past and not repented of the (EH)impurity, sexual immorality, and indecent behavior which they have practiced.

Examine Yourselves

13 (EI)This is the third time that I am coming to you. (EJ)On the [y]testimony of two or three witnesses every matter shall be confirmed. 2 I have previously said when I was present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have (EK)sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that (EL)if I come again I will not (EM)spare anyone, 3 since you are (EN)seeking proof of the (EO)Christ who speaks in me, who is not weak toward you, but (EP)mighty in you. 4 For indeed He was (EQ)crucified because of weakness, yet He lives (ER)because of the power of God. For we too are (ES)weak [z]in Him, yet (ET)we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

5 (EU)Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; (EV)examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you [aa](EW)fail the test? 6 But I expect that you will realize that we ourselves [ab]do not fail the test. 7 Now we pray to God that you do nothing wrong; not so that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, though we may [ac]appear unapproved. 8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 For we rejoice when we ourselves are (EX)weak, but you are strong; this we also pray for, [ad]that you (EY)become mature. 10 For this reason I am writing these things while absent, so that when present (EZ)I need not use (FA)severity, in accordance with the (FB)authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.

11 (FC)Finally, brothers and sisters, [ae]rejoice, (FD)mend your ways, be comforted, (FE)be like-minded, (FF)live in peace; and (FG)the God of love and peace will be with you. 12 (FH)Greet one another with a holy kiss. 13 (FI)All the [af]saints greet you.

Visita de despedida de Pablo en Troas

7 El primer día de la semana, reunidos los discípulos para partir el pan, Pablo les enseñaba, habiendo de salir al día siguiente; y alargó el discurso hasta la medianoche. 8 Y había muchas lámparas en el aposento alto donde estaban reunidos; 9 y un joven llamado Eutico, que estaba sentado en la ventana, rendido de un sueño profundo, por cuanto Pablo disertaba largamente, vencido del sueño cayó del tercer piso abajo, y fue levantado muerto. 10 Entonces descendió Pablo y se echó sobre él, y abrazándole, dijo: No os alarméis, pues está vivo. 11 Después de haber subido, y partido el pan y comido, habló largamente hasta el alba; y así salió. 12 Y llevaron al joven vivo, y fueron grandemente consolados.

7 On (A)the first day of the week, when (B)we were gathered together to (C)break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his [a]message until midnight. 8 There were many (D)lamps in the (E)upstairs room where we were gathered together. 9 And there was a young man named [b]Eutychus sitting [c]on the window sill, sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, Eutychus was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor, and was picked up dead. 10 But Paul went down and (F)fell upon him, and after embracing him, he (G)said, “[d]Do not be troubled, for [e]he is still alive.” 11 When Paul had gone back up and had (H)broken the bread and [f]eaten, he talked with them a long while until daybreak, and then left. 12 They took away the boy alive, and were [g]greatly comforted.
