² I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband,^(A) to Christ, so that I might present you^(B) as a pure virgin to him. ³ But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning,^(C) your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

⁵ Love^(A) the Lord your God with all your heart^(B) and with all your soul and with all your strength.^(C)

¹³ So if you faithfully obey^(A) the commands I am giving you today—to love^(B) the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul^(C)— ¹⁴ then I will send rain^(D) on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains,^(E) so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.

²² In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too.

³ In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.^(A) And his commands are not burdensome,^{(B) 4} for everyone born of God^(C) overcomes^(D) the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
