¹² Indeed, all who desire to ^(A)live a godly life in Christ Jesus ^(B)will be persecuted, ¹³ while ^(C)evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and ^(D)being deceived.

^21 (A)Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, ^22 (B)and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. ^(C)But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

⁹ “Then ^(A)they will deliver you up ^(B)to tribulation and ^(C)put you to death, and ^(D)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then many will fall away^[a] and ^(E)betray one another and hate one another. ¹¹ And many ^(F)false prophets will arise ^(G)and lead many astray. ¹² And because lawlessness will be increased, ^(H)the love of many will grow cold. ^13 (I)But the one who endures to the end will be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom ^(J)will be proclaimed throughout the whole world ^(K)as a testimony ^(L)to all nations, and ^(M)then the end will come.

^10 (A)“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for ^(B)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

^11 (C)“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely ^(D)on my account. ^12 (E)Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for ^(F)so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

The Hatred of the World

^18 (A)“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. ^19 (B)If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because ^(C)you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: ^(D)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, ^(E)they will also persecute you. ^(F)If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
