7 For (A)God has not given us a spirit of fear, (B)but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Not Ashamed of the Gospel
8 (C)Therefore do not be ashamed of (D)the testimony of our Lord, nor of me (E)His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, (F)not according to our works, but (G)according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus (H)before time began, 10 but (I)has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 (J)to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher [a]of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, (K)for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,(A) but gives us power,(B) love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed(C) of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.(D) Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,(E) by the power of God. 9 He has saved(F) us and called(G) us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done(H) but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed(I) through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus,(J) who has destroyed death(K) and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel(L) I was appointed(M) a herald and an apostle and a teacher.(N) 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame,(O) because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard(P) what I have entrusted to him until that day.(Q)
