Salutación

1 Pablo, Silvano y Timoteo, a la iglesia de los tesalonicenses(A) en Dios nuestro Padre y en el Señor Jesucristo: 2 Gracia y paz a vosotros, de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Dios juzgará a los pecadores en la venida de Cristo

3 Debemos siempre dar gracias a Dios por vosotros, hermanos, como es digno, por cuanto vuestra fe va creciendo, y el amor de todos y cada uno de vosotros abunda para con los demás; 4 tanto, que nosotros mismos nos gloriamos de vosotros en las iglesias de Dios, por vuestra paciencia y fe en todas vuestras persecuciones y tribulaciones que soportáis.

5 Esto es demostración del justo juicio de Dios, para que seáis tenidos por dignos del reino de Dios, por el cual asimismo padecéis. 6 Porque es justo delante de Dios pagar con tribulación a los que os atribulan, 7 y a vosotros que sois atribulados, daros reposo con nosotros, cuando se manifieste el Señor Jesús desde el cielo con los ángeles de su poder, 8 en llama de fuego, para dar retribución a los que no conocieron a Dios, ni obedecen al evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo; 9 los cuales sufrirán pena de eterna perdición, excluidos de la presencia del Señor y de la gloria de su poder, 10 cuando venga en aquel día para ser glorificado en sus santos y ser admirado en todos los que creyeron (por cuanto nuestro testimonio ha sido creído entre vosotros). 11 Por lo cual asimismo oramos siempre por vosotros, para que nuestro Dios os tenga por dignos de su llamamiento, y cumpla todo propósito de bondad y toda obra de fe con su poder, 12 para que el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea glorificado en vosotros, y vosotros en él, por la gracia de nuestro Dios y del Señor Jesucristo.

3 Debemos siempre dar gracias á Dios de vosotros, hermanos, como es digno, por cuanto vuestra fe va creciendo, y la caridad de cada uno de todos vosotros abunda entre vosotros;

4 Tanto, que nosotros mismos nos gloriamos de vosotros en las iglesias de Dios, de vuestra paciencia y en todas vuestras persecuciones y tribulaciones que sufrís:

5 Una demostración del justo juicio de Dios, para que seáis tenidos por dignos del reino de Dios, por el cual asimismo padecéis.

6 Porque es justo para con Dios pagar con tribulación á los que os atribulan;

7 Y á vosotros, que sois atribulados, dar reposo con nosotros, cuando se manifestará el Señor Jesús del cielo con los ángeles de su potencia,

8 En llama de fuego, para dar el pago á los que no conocieron á Dios, ni obedecen al evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

9 Los cuales serán castigados de eterna perdición por la presencia del Señor, y por la gloria de su potencia,

10 Cuando viniere para ser glorificado en sus santos, y á hacerse admirable en aquel día en todos los que creyeron: (por cuanto nuestro testimonio ha sido creído entre vosotros.)

11 Por lo cual, asimismo oramos siempre por vosotros, que nuestro Dios os tenga por dignos de su vocación, e hincha de bondad todo buen intento, y toda obra de fe con potencia,

12 Para que el nombre, de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea glorificado en vosotros, y vosotros en él, por la gracia de nuestro Dios y del Señor Jesucristo.

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving for Faith and Perseverance

1 Paul, Silvanus (Silas), and Timothy,

To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We ought always and indeed are morally obligated [as those in debt] to give thanks to God for you, [a]brothers and sisters, as is fitting, because your faith is growing ever greater, and the [unselfish] [b]love of each one of you toward one another is continually increasing. 4 Therefore, we speak of you with pride among the churches of God for your steadfastness [your unflinching endurance, and patience] and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecution and [crushing] distress which you endure. 5 This is a positive proof of the righteous judgment of God [a sign of His fair verdict], so that you will be considered worthy of His kingdom, for which indeed you are suffering. 6 For after all it is only just for God to repay with distress those who distress you, 7 and to give relief to you who are so distressed and to us as well when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire, 8 dealing out [full and complete] vengeance to those who do not [seek to] know God and to those who ignore and refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus [by choosing not to respond to Him]. 9 These people will pay the penalty and endure the punishment of [c]everlasting destruction, banished from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day [that is, glorified through the changed lives of those who have accepted Him as Savior and have been set apart for His purpose], and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed and trusted [and confirmed in your lives]. 11 With this in view, we constantly pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of your calling [to faith] and with [His] power fulfill every desire for goodness, and complete [your] every work of faith, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you [by what you do], and you in Him, according to the [precious] grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

A la iglesia de los tesalonicenses(D) en Dios nuestro Padre y en el Señor Jesucristo: 2 Gracia a vosotros(E) y paz de parte de Dios el Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Acción de gracias

3 Siempre tenemos que dar gracias a Dios por vosotros(F), hermanos(G), como es justo, porque vuestra fe aumenta grandemente, y el amor de cada uno de[a] vosotros hacia los demás(H) abunda más y más; 4 de manera que nosotros mismos hablamos con orgullo(I) de vosotros entre las iglesias de Dios, por vuestra perseverancia[b] y fe(J) en medio de todas las[c] persecuciones y aflicciones que soportáis(K). 5 Esta es una señal evidente(L) del justo juicio de Dios, para que seáis considerados dignos del reino de Dios(M), por el cual en verdad estáis sufriendo.

Justicia de la retribución final

6 Porque después de todo[d], es justo delante(N) de[e] Dios retribuir con aflicción a los que os afligen, 7 y daros alivio a vosotros que sois afligidos, y también a nosotros[f], cuando el Señor Jesús sea revelado[g](O) desde el cielo(P) con sus poderosos ángeles[h](Q) en llama de fuego(R), 8 dando retribución a los que no conocen a Dios(S), y a los que no obedecen al evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesús(T). 9 Estos[i] sufrirán el castigo de eterna destrucción(U), excluidos de la presencia del Señor(V) y de la gloria de su poder, 10 cuando Él venga para ser glorificado(W) en[j] sus santos en aquel día(X) y para ser admirado entre todos los que han creído; porque nuestro testimonio ha sido creído por vosotros(Y).

Oración por los tesalonicenses

11 Con este fin también nosotros oramos siempre por vosotros(Z), para que nuestro Dios os considere[k] dignos(AA) de vuestro llamamiento(AB) y cumpla todo deseo de bondad(AC) y la obra de fe(AD), con poder, 12 a fin de que el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús(AE) sea glorificado en vosotros, y vosotros en Él, conforme a la gracia de nuestro Dios y del Señor Jesucristo.
