11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, (A)what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 (B)waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and (C)the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!

You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward(A) to the day of God and speed its coming.[a](B) That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.(C)
