The Day of the Lord

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which ^(B)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be ^[a]burned up. ¹¹ Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be ^(C)in holy conduct and godliness, ^12 (D)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will ^(E)be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will ^(F)melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for ^(G)new heavens and a ^(H)new earth in which righteousness dwells.

From Suffering to Glory

¹⁸ For I consider that ^(A)the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. ¹⁹ For ^(B)the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. ²⁰ For ^(C)the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; ²¹ because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of ^[a]corruption into the glorious ^(D)liberty of the children of God. ²² For we know that the whole creation ^(E)groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. ²³ Not only that, but we also who have ^(F)the firstfruits of the Spirit, ^(G)even we ourselves groan ^(H)within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the ^(I)redemption of our body.

⁹ Much more then, having now been justified ^(A)by His blood, we shall be saved ^(B)from wrath through Him. ¹⁰ For ^(C)if when we were enemies ^(D)we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved ^(E)by His life.

All Things Made New

21 Now ^(A)I saw a new heaven and a new earth, ^(B)for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. ² Then I, ^[a]John, saw ^(C)the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared ^(D)as a bride adorned for her husband. ³ And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, ^(E)the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. ^4 (F)And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; ^(G)there shall be no more death, ^(H)nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

⁵ Then ^(I)He who sat on the throne said, ^(J)“Behold, I make all things new.” And He said ^[b]to me, “Write, for ^(K)these words are true and faithful.”

⁶ And He said to me, ^(L)“It^[c] is done! ^(M)I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. ^(N)I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. ⁷ He who overcomes ^[d]shall inherit all things, and ^(O)I will be his God and he shall be My son. ^8 (P)But the cowardly, ^[e]unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in ^(Q)the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

³ And ^(A)there shall be no more curse, ^(B)but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His ^(C)servants shall serve Him. ^4 (D)They shall see His face, and ^(E)His name shall be on their foreheads. ^5 (F)There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor ^(G)light of the sun, for ^(H)the Lord God gives them light. ^(I)And they shall reign forever and ever.
