2 Peter 2:20-22

20 For if, after they have (A)escaped the defilements of the world by (B)the knowledge of the (C)Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again (D)entangled in them and are overcome, (E)the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 (F)For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from (G)the holy commandment (H)handed on to them. 22 [a]It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “(I)A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing(A) our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ(B) and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.(C) 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.(D) 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,”[a](E) and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
