Ministros del nuevo pacto
3 ¿Comenzamos otra vez a recomendarnos a nosotros mismos? ¿O tenemos necesidad, como algunos, de cartas de recomendación para vosotros, o de recomendación de vosotros? 2 Nuestras cartas sois vosotros, escritas en nuestros corazones, conocidas y leídas por todos los hombres; 3 siendo manifiesto que sois carta de Cristo expedida por nosotros, escrita no con tinta, sino con el Espíritu del Dios vivo; no en tablas de piedra,(A) sino en tablas de carne del corazón.
4 Y tal confianza tenemos mediante Cristo para con Dios; 5 no que seamos competentes por nosotros mismos para pensar algo como de nosotros mismos, sino que nuestra competencia proviene de Dios, 6 el cual asimismo nos hizo ministros competentes de un nuevo pacto,(B) no de la letra, sino del espíritu; porque la letra mata, mas el espíritu vivifica.
7 Y si el ministerio de muerte grabado con letras en piedras fue con gloria, tanto que los hijos de Israel no pudieron fijar la vista en el rostro de Moisés a causa de la gloria de su rostro,(C) la cual había de perecer, 8 ¿cómo no será más bien con gloria el ministerio del espíritu? 9 Porque si el ministerio de condenación fue con gloria, mucho más abundará en gloria el ministerio de justificación. 10 Porque aun lo que fue glorioso, no es glorioso en este respecto, en comparación con la gloria más eminente. 11 Porque si lo que perece tuvo gloria, mucho más glorioso será lo que permanece.
12 Así que, teniendo tal esperanza, usamos de mucha franqueza; 13 y no como Moisés, que ponía un velo sobre su rostro,(D) para que los hijos de Israel no fijaran la vista en el fin de aquello que había de ser abolido. 14 Pero el entendimiento de ellos se embotó; porque hasta el día de hoy, cuando leen el antiguo pacto, les queda el mismo velo no descubierto, el cual por Cristo es quitado. 15 Y aun hasta el día de hoy, cuando se lee a Moisés, el velo está puesto sobre el corazón de ellos. 16 Pero cuando se conviertan al Señor, el velo se quitará. 17 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad. 18 Por tanto, nosotros todos, mirando a cara descubierta como en un espejo la gloria del Señor, somos transformados de gloria en gloria en la misma imagen, como por el Espíritu del Señor.

3 ¿COMENZAMOS otra vez á alabarnos á nosotros mismos? ¿ó tenemos necesidad, como algunos, de letras de recomendación para vosotros, ó de recomendación de vosotros?
2 Nuestras letras sois vosotros, escritas en nuestros corazones, sabidas y leídas de todos los hombres;
3 Siendo manifiesto que sois letra de Cristo administrada de nosotros, escrita no con tinta, mas con el Espíritu del Dios vivo; no en tablas de piedra, sino en tablas de carne del corazón.
4 Y tal confianza tenemos por Cristo para con Dios:
5 No que seamos suficientes de nosotros mismos para pensar algo como de nosotros mismos, sino que nuestra suficiencia es de Dios;
6 El cual asimismo nos hizo ministros suficientes de un nuevo pacto: no de la letra, mas del espíritu; porque la letra mata, mas el espíritu vivifica.
7 Y si el ministerio de muerte en la letra grabado en piedras, fué con gloria, tanto que los hijos de Israel no pudiesen poner los ojos en la faz de Moisés á causa de la gloria de su rostro, la cual había de perecer,
8 ¿Cómo no será más bien con gloria el ministerio del espíritu?
9 Porque si el ministerio de condenación fué con gloria, mucho más abundará en gloria el ministerio de justicia.
10 Porque aun lo que fué glorioso, no es glorioso en esta parte, en comparación de la excelente gloria.
11 Porque si lo que perece tuvo gloria, mucho más será en gloria lo que permanece.
12 Así que, teniendo tal esperanza, hablamos con mucha confianza;
13 Y no como Moisés, que ponía un velo sobre su faz, para que los hijos de Israel no pusiesen los ojos en el fin de lo que había de ser abolido.
14 Empero los sentidos de ellos se embotaron; porque hasta el día de hoy les queda el mismo velo no descubierto en la lección del antiguo testamento, el cual por Cristo es quitado.
15 Y aun hasta el día de hoy, cuando Moisés es leído, el velo está puesto sobre el corazón de ellos.
16 Mas cuando se convirtieren al Señor, el velo se quitará.
17 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde hay el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.
18 Por tanto, nosotros todos, mirando á cara descubierta como en un espejo la gloria del Señor, somos transformados de gloria en gloria en la misma semejanza, como por el Espíritu del Señor.

3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Ministers of a New Covenant
3 Are we starting to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some [false teachers], letters of recommendation to you or from you? [No!] 2 You are our letter [of recommendation], written in our hearts, recognized and read by everyone. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.(A)
4 Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God. 6 He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life.(B)
7 Now if the ministry of death, engraved in letters on stones [the covenant of the Law which led to death because of sin], came with such glory and splendor that the Israelites were not able to look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, [a brilliance] that was fading,(C) 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit [the new covenant which allows us to be Spirit-filled] fail to be even more glorious and splendid? 9 For if the ministry that brings condemnation [the old covenant, the Law] has glory, how much more does glory overflow in the ministry that brings righteousness [the new covenant which declares believers free of guilt and sets them apart for God’s special purpose]! 10 Indeed, what had glory [the Law], in this case no longer has glory because of the glory that surpasses it [the gospel]. 11 For if that [Law] which fades away came with glory, how much more must that [gospel] which remains and is permanent abide in glory and splendor!
12 Since we have such a [glorious] hope and confident expectation, we speak with great courage, 13 and we are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the Israelites would not gaze at the end of the glory which was fading away. 14 But [in fact] their minds were hardened [for they had lost the ability to understand]; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed [only] in Christ. 15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil [of blindness] lies over their heart; 16 but whenever a person turns [in repentance and faith] to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom].(D) 18 And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.

3 ¿Comenzamos otra vez a recomendarnos(A) a nosotros mismos? ¿O acaso necesitamos, como algunos, cartas de recomendación(B) para vosotros o de parte de vosotros? 2 Vosotros sois nuestra carta, escrita en nuestros corazones, conocida y leída por todos los hombres(C), 3 siendo manifiesto que sois carta de Cristo redactada[a] por nosotros, no escrita con tinta, sino con el Espíritu(D) del Dios vivo(E); no en tablas de piedra(F), sino en tablas de corazones humanos[b](G). 4 Y esta[c] confianza tenemos hacia Dios por medio de Cristo(H): 5 no que seamos suficientes en nosotros mismos para pensar que cosa alguna procede de nosotros, sino que nuestra suficiencia es de Dios(I), 6 el cual también nos hizo suficientes como ministros[d](J) de un nuevo pacto(K), no de la letra, sino del Espíritu(L); porque la letra mata, pero el Espíritu da vida(M). 7 Y si el ministerio de muerte(N) grabado con letras en piedras(O) fue con gloria, de tal manera que los hijos de Israel no podían fijar la vista en el rostro de Moisés por causa de la gloria de su rostro, que se desvanecía(P), 8 ¿cómo no será aún con más gloria el ministerio del Espíritu? 9 Porque si el ministerio de condenación(Q) tiene gloria, mucho más abunda en gloria el ministerio de justicia(R). 10 Pues en verdad, lo que tenía gloria, en este caso no tiene gloria por razón de la gloria que lo sobrepasa. 11 Porque si lo que se desvanece fue con[e] gloria, mucho más es con[f] gloria lo que permanece.
Transformados de gloria en gloria
12 Teniendo, por tanto, tal esperanza(S), hablamos con[g] mucha franqueza(T), 13 y no somos como Moisés, que ponía un velo sobre su rostro para que los hijos de Israel no fijaran su vista en el fin de aquello que había de desvanecerse(U). 14 Pero el entendimiento de ellos se endureció[h]; porque hasta el día de hoy, en la lectura(V) del antiguo pacto[i](W) el mismo velo permanece sin alzarse, pues solo en Cristo es quitado(X). 15 Y[j] hasta el día de hoy, cada vez que se lee a Moisés, un velo está puesto sobre sus corazones; 16 pero cuando alguno se vuelve al Señor, el velo es quitado(Y). 17 Ahora bien, el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor(Z), hay libertad(AA). 18 Pero nosotros todos, con el rostro descubierto, contemplando como en un espejo(AB) la gloria del Señor(AC), estamos siendo transformados en la misma imagen(AD) de gloria en gloria, como por el Señor(AE), el Espíritu.
