[a]For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for [b]Jesus’ sake.

For God (A)[c]that commanded the light to shine out of darkness, is he which hath shined in our hearts, to give the [d]light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

[e]But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, [f]that the excellency of that power might be of God, and not of us.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a](D) made his light shine in our hearts(E) to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.(F)

But we have this treasure in jars of clay(G) to show that this all-surpassing power is from God(H) and not from us.
