¹⁶ So we do not lose heart. ^(A)Though our outer self^[a] is wasting away, ^(B)our inner self ^(C)is being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For ^(D)this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, ^18 (E)as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

⁶ So we are always of good courage. We know that ^(A)while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, ⁷ for ^(B)we walk by faith, not ^(C)by sight. ⁸ Yes, we are of good courage, and we ^(D)would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

²⁰ Therefore, ^(A)we are ambassadors for Christ, ^(B)God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. ^21 (C)For our sake he made him to be sin ^(D)who knew no sin, so that in him we might become ^(E)the righteousness of God.
