2 Corinthians 5:6-9

New International Version

⁶Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. ⁷For we live by faith, not by sight.^(A) ⁸We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.^(B) ⁹So we make it our goal to please him,^(C) whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

As long as we are in these bodies, we are away from the Lord. ⁷But we live by faith, not by what we see. ⁸We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord. ⁹But whether we are at home with the Lord or away from him, we still try our best to please him.
