10 In (A)the spring of the year King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, (B)with the precious vessels of the house of the Lord, and made his brother (C)Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.

11 (D)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. 12 He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God. He did not humble himself before (E)Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of the Lord. 13 (F)He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. (G)He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel. 14 All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.

Zedekiah King of Judah(B)

11 Zedekiah(C) was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. 12 He did evil in the eyes of the Lord(D) his God and did not humble(E) himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the word of the Lord. 13 He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take an oath(F) in God’s name. He became stiff-necked(G) and hardened his heart and would not turn to the Lord, the God of Israel. 14 Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful,(H) following all the detestable practices of the nations and defiling the temple of the Lord, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Captured

10 At that time the servants of (A)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. 11 And (B)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it, 12 (C)and Jehoiachin the king of Judah gave himself up to the king of Babylon, himself and his mother and his servants and his officials and his palace officials. (D)The king of Babylon took him prisoner (E)in the eighth year of his reign 13 and carried off all the treasures of the house of the Lord (F)and the treasures of the king's house, (G)and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold in the temple of the Lord, (H)which Solomon king of Israel had made, (I)as the Lord had foretold. 14 (J)He carried away all Jerusalem and all the officials and all the mighty men of valor, (K)10,000 captives, (L)and all the craftsmen and the smiths. None remained, (M)except the poorest people of the land. 15 (N)And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon. The king's mother, the king's wives, his officials, and the chief men of the land he took into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 And the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon all the men of valor, (O)7,000, and the craftsmen and the metal workers, 1,000, all of them strong and fit for war. 17 (P)And the king of Babylon (Q)made Mattaniah, (R)Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, (S)and changed his name to Zedekiah.

Zedekiah Reigns in Judah

18 (T)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was (U)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, (V)according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 20 For because of the anger of the Lord it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence.

(W)And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

10 At that time the officers of Nebuchadnezzar(A) king of Babylon advanced on Jerusalem and laid siege to it, 11 and Nebuchadnezzar himself came up to the city while his officers were besieging it. 12 Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered(B) to him.

In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner. 13 As the Lord had declared,(C) Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures(D) from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles(E) that Solomon(F) king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord. 14 He carried all Jerusalem into exile:(G) all the officers and fighting men,(H) and all the skilled workers and artisans—a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest(I) people of the land were left.

15 Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin(J) captive to Babylon. He also took from Jerusalem to Babylon the king’s mother,(K) his wives, his officials and the prominent people(L) of the land. 16 The king of Babylon also deported to Babylon the entire force of seven thousand fighting men, strong and fit for war, and a thousand skilled workers and artisans.(M) 17 He made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.(N)

Zedekiah King of Judah(O)

18 Zedekiah(P) was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal(Q) daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. 19 He did evil(R) in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. 20 It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust(S) them from his presence.(T)
