⁶ Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire.
    You have opened my ears.
    You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.

¹⁶ For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it.
    You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
    O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.

³ To do righteousness and justice
    is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.

⁶ For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice;
    and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

² For my hand has made all these things,
    and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh:
“but I will look to this man,
    even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
    and who trembles at my word.
