9 (A)If we confess our sins, he is (B)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and (C)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, (D)we make him a liar, and (E)his word is not in us.
Christ Our Advocate
2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, (F)we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

2 My dear children,(F) I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate(G) with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
