³ For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives,^(A) nor are we trying to trick you.^{(B) 4} On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel.^(C) We are not trying to please people^(D) but God, who tests our hearts.^(E)

²⁶ Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me,^(A) not because you saw the signs^(B) I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. ²⁷ Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures^(C) to eternal life,^(D) which the Son of Man^(E) will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal^(F) of approval.”

⁴ For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,^{(A) 5} so in Christ we, though many, form one body,^(B) and each member belongs to all the others. ⁶ We have different gifts,^(C) according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying,^(D) then prophesy in accordance with your^[a] faith;^{(E) 7} if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;^{(F) 8} if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;^(G) if it is giving, then give generously;^(H) if it is to lead,^[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
