⁹ Resist him,^(A) standing firm in the faith,^(B) because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.^(C)

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you^(D) to his eternal glory^(E) in Christ, after you have suffered a little while,^(F) will himself restore you and make you strong,^(G) firm and steadfast.

³³ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.^(A) In this world you will have trouble.^(B) But take heart! I have overcome^(C) the world.”

The Return to Antioch in Syria

²¹ They preached the gospel^(A) in that city and won a large number^(B) of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium^(C) and Antioch, ²² strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.^(D) “We must go through many hardships^(E) to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

¹⁷ For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.^(A)

⁶ In all this you greatly rejoice,^(A) though now for a little while^(B) you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.^(C)

¹³ But rejoice^(A) inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ,^(B) so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.^{(C) 14} If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,^(D) you are blessed,^(E) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
