³³ Even after this, Jeroboam did not change his evil ways,^(A) but once more appointed priests for the high places from all sorts^(B) of people. Anyone who wanted to become a priest he consecrated for the high places. ³⁴ This was the sin^(C) of the house of Jeroboam that led to its downfall and to its destruction^(D) from the face of the earth.

³⁴ He did evil^(A) in the eyes of the Lord, following the ways of Jeroboam and committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit.

²⁶ He followed completely the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused^(A) Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.^(B)

³¹ He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married^(A) Jezebel daughter^(B) of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal^(C) and worship him.

⁵² He did evil^(A) in the eyes of the Lord, because he followed the ways of his father and mother and of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

²⁹ However, he did not turn away from the sins^(A) of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit—the worship of the golden calves^(B) at Bethel^(C) and Dan.
