The Promise Is Eternal Life

^25 (A)This is the promise which He Himself ^[a]made to us: eternal life.

²⁶ These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to ^(B)deceive you. ²⁷ And as for you, the ^(C)anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing ^(D)teaches you about all things, and is ^(E)true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, ^[b]you remain in Him.

²⁸ Now, ^(F)little children, remain in Him, so that when He ^(G)appears, we may have ^(H)confidence and ^(I)not ^[c]draw back from Him in shame ^[d]at His ^(J)coming. ²⁹ If you know that ^(K)He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness also ^(L)has been born of Him.

Children of God Love One Another

3 See ^[e](M)how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called ^(N)children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because ^(O)it did not know Him. ^2 (P)Beloved, now we are ^(Q)children of God, and ^(R)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He ^(S)appears, we will be ^(T)like Him, because we will ^(U)see Him just as He is. ³ And everyone who has this ^(V)hope set on Him ^(W)purifies himself, just as He is pure.
