¹⁸ This charge ^(A)I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with ^(B)the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may ^(C)wage the good warfare, ^19 (D)holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have ^(E)made shipwreck of their faith, ²⁰ among whom are ^(F)Hymenaeus and ^(G)Alexander, whom I ^(H)have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to ^(I)blaspheme.

Judgment on False Teachers

³ Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our ^(A)common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you ^(B)to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.

⁸ Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and ^(A)blaspheme the glorious ones.

¹² These are hidden reefs^{[a] (A)}at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, ^(B)shepherds feeding themselves; ^(C)waterless clouds, ^(D)swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, ^(E)uprooted;

^13 (A)wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of ^(B)their own shame; ^(C)wandering stars, ^(D)for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

¹⁶ But ^(A)avoid ^(B)irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,

¹² Indeed, all who desire to ^(A)live a godly life in Christ Jesus ^(B)will be persecuted, ¹³ while ^(C)evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and ^(D)being deceived. ¹⁴ But as for you, ^(E)continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom^[a] you learned it ¹⁵ and how ^(F)from childhood you have been acquainted with ^(G)the sacred writings, ^(H)which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ^16 (I)All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ that ^(J)the man of God^[b] may be complete, ^(K)equipped ^(L)for every good work.
