^6 (A)If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we ^(B)lie and ^(C)do not practice the truth; ⁷ but if we ^(D)walk in the Light as ^(E)He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and ^(F)the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

^8 (A)If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the ^(B)truth is not in us. ^9 (C)If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and ^(D)cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ^10 (E)If we say that we have not sinned, we ^(F)make Him a liar and ^(G)His word is not in us.

^3 (A)By this we know that we have come to ^(B)know Him, if we ^(C)keep His commandments. ⁴ The one who says, “^(D)I have come to ^(E)know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a ^(F)liar, and ^(G)the truth is not in him;

⁵ but whoever ^(A)follows His word, in him the ^(B)love of God has truly been perfected. ^(C)By this we know that we are in Him: ⁶ the one who says that he ^(D)remains in Him ^(E)ought, himself also, walk just as He walked.

⁹ The one who says that he is in the Light and yet ^(A)hates his ^(B)brother or sister is in the darkness until now. ^10 (C)The one who loves his brother and sister remains in the Light, and there is nothing in him to cause stumbling. ¹¹ But the one who ^(D)hates his brother or sister is in the darkness and ^(E)walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has ^(F)blinded his eyes.
