⁶ so then, let’s not ^(A)sleep as ^[a](B)others do, but let’s be alert and ^[b](C)sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are drunk, ^(D)get drunk at night. ⁸ But since ^(E)we are of the day, let’s ^(F)be ^[c]sober, having put on the ^(G)breastplate of ^(H)faith and love, and as a ^(I)helmet, the ^(J)hope of salvation.

¹³ Therefore, ^[a](A)prepare your minds for action, ^[b](B)keep sober in spirit, set your ^(C)hope completely on the ^(D)grace to be brought to you at ^(E)the revelation of Jesus Christ.

^8 (A)Be of sober spirit, ^(B)be on the alert. Your adversary, ^(C)the devil, prowls around like a roaring ^(D)lion, seeking someone to devour.
