⁹ And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

^4 (A)Remain in Me, ^[a]and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit ^[b]of itself ^[c]but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him ^[d](B)bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

¹³ Therefore, take up ^(A)the full armor of God, so that you will be able to ^(B)resist on ^(C)the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore, ^(D)having belted your waist with truth, and having ^(E)put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having ^(F)strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace;

²³ Whatever you do, do your work ^[a]heartily, ^(A)as for the Lord and not for people,
