1 Peter 1:10-20

New International Version

¹⁰Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke^(A) of the grace that was to come to you,^(B) searched intently and with the greatest care,^(C) ¹¹trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ^(D) in them was pointing when he predicted^(E) the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. ¹²It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you,^(F) when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you^(G) by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.^(H) Even angels long to look into these things.

Be Holy

¹³Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober,^(I) set your hope^(J) on the grace to be brought to you^(K) when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.^(L) ¹⁴As obedient^(M) children, do not conform^(N) to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.^(O) ¹⁵But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;^(P) ¹⁶for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”^[a]^(Q)

¹⁷Since you call on a Father^(R) who judges each person’s work^(S) impartially,^(T) live out your time as foreigners^(U) here in reverent fear.^(V) ¹⁸For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed^(W) from the empty way of life^(X) handed down to you from your ancestors, ¹⁹but with the precious blood^(Y) of Christ, a lamb^(Z) without blemish or defect.^(AA) ²⁰He was chosen before the creation of the world,^(AB) but was revealed in these last times^(AC) for your sake.
