34 Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and killed Joab. He was buried at his own house in the desert. 35 The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab’s place. And the king put Zadok the religious leader in the place of Abiathar.

34 So Benaiah(A) son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab(B) and killed him, and he was buried at his home out in the country. 35 The king put Benaiah(C) son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab’s position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok(D) the priest.
36 Then the king sent for Shimei(E) and said to him, “Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.
