1 Kings 19:11-13
New International Version
11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain(A) in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”(B)
Then a great and powerful wind(C) tore the mountains apart and shattered(D) the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire,(E) but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.(F) 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face(G) and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
John 10:3-5
New International Version
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice.(A) He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.(B) 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.(C) 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
Psalm 32:8-10
New International Version
8 I will instruct(A) you and teach you(B) in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on(C) you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle(D)
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,(E)
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts(F) in him.
