¹⁷ But ^(A)whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and ^(B)closes his ^[a]heart ^[b]against him, ^(C)how does the love of God remain in him?

^20 (A)If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he ^(B)hates his brother or sister, he is a ^(C)liar; for ^(D)the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, ^(E)cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

⁴ The one who says, “^(A)I have come to ^(B)know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a ^(C)liar, and ^(D)the truth is not in him;

¹¹ But the one who ^(A)hates his brother or sister is in the darkness and ^(B)walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has ^(C)blinded his eyes.

^6 (A)If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we ^(B)lie and ^(C)do not practice the truth;
