1 John 3:15-17

15 All who hate a brother or sister[a] are murderers, and you know that murderers do not have eternal life abiding in them. 16 We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. 17 How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister[b] in need and yet refuses help?

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.(D) And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.(E) 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them,(F) how can the love of God be in that person?(G)
