Psalm 2

¹Why do the nations conspire^[a]
    and the peoples plot^(A) in vain?
²The kings^(B) of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
    against the Lord and against his anointed,^(C) saying,
³“Let us break their chains^(D)
    and throw off their shackles.”^(E)

⁴The One enthroned^(F) in heaven laughs;^(G)
    the Lord scoffs at them.
⁵He rebukes them in his anger^(H)
    and terrifies them in his wrath,^(I) saying,
⁶“I have installed my king^(J)
    on Zion,^(K) my holy mountain.^(L)”

⁷I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:

He said to me, “You are my son;^(M)
    today I have become your father.^(N)
⁸Ask me,
    and I will make the nations^(O) your inheritance,^(P)
    the ends of the earth^(Q) your possession.
⁹You will break them with a rod of iron^[b];^(R)
    you will dash them to pieces^(S) like pottery.^(T)”

¹⁰Therefore, you kings, be wise;^(U)
    be warned, you rulers^(V) of the earth.
¹¹Serve the Lord with fear^(W)
    and celebrate his rule^(X) with trembling.^(Y)
¹²Kiss his son,^(Z) or he will be angry
    and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath^(AA) can flare up in a moment.
    Blessed^(AB) are all who take refuge^(AC) in him.

Zechariah 14:2-4

²I will gather all the nations^(A) to Jerusalem to fight against it;^(B) the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped.^(C) Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.^(D) ³Then the Lord will go out and fight^(E) against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle.^(F) ⁴On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,^(G) east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split^(H) in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

¹³Then I saw three impure spirits^(A) that looked like frogs;^(B) they came out of the mouth of the dragon,^(C) out of the mouth of the beast^(D) and out of the mouth of the false prophet.^(E) ¹⁴They are demonic spirits^(F) that perform signs,^(G) and they go out to the kings of the whole world,^(H) to gather them for the battle^(I) on the great day^(J) of God Almighty.

¹⁵“Look, I come like a thief!^(K) Blessed is the one who stays awake^(L) and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”^(M)

¹⁶Then they gathered the kings together^(N) to the place that in Hebrew^(O) is called Armageddon.^(P)

Revelation 19:11-21

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

¹¹I saw heaven standing open^(A) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider^(B) is called Faithful and True.^(C) With justice he judges and wages war.^(D) ¹²His eyes are like blazing fire,^(E) and on his head are many crowns.^(F) He has a name written on him^(G) that no one knows but he himself.^(H) ¹³He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood,^(I) and his name is the Word of God.^(J) ¹⁴The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,^(K) white^(L) and clean. ¹⁵Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword^(M) with which to strike down^(N) the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”^[a]^(O) He treads the winepress^(P) of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. ¹⁶On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:^(Q)

king of kings and lord of lords.^(R)

¹⁷And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds^(S) flying in midair,^(T) “Come,^(U) gather together for the great supper of God,^(V) ¹⁸so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,^(W) free and slave,^(X) great and small.”^(Y)

¹⁹Then I saw the beast^(Z) and the kings of the earth^(AA) and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse^(AB) and his army. ²⁰But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet^(AC) who had performed the signs^(AD) on its behalf.^(AE) With these signs he had deluded^(AF) those who had received the mark of the beast^(AG) and worshiped its image.^(AH) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake^(AI) of burning sulfur.^(AJ) ²¹The rest were killed with the sword^(AK) coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,^(AL) and all the birds^(AM) gorged themselves on their flesh.
