ہیکل میں لاویوں کی خدمت کر نے کے لئے منصوبے
23 داؤد بوڑھا ہوگیا۔ اس لئے اس نے اپنے بیٹے سلیمان کو اسرائیل کا نیا با دشاہ بنا یا۔ 2 داؤد نے اسرائیل کے تمام قائدین ،کا ہنو ں اور لا ویوں کو جمع کیا۔ 3 وہ لا وی جنکی عمر تیس سال سے اوپر تھی گنے گئے۔ وہ لوگ کُل ملا کر ۳۸۰۰۰ تھے۔ 4 داؤد نے کہا ، “ان میں سے ۲۴۰۰۰ خداوند کی ہیکل کی تعمیر کی نگرانی کا کام کریں گے اور اس میں سے ۰۰۰,۶ عہدیدار اور قاضی ہونگے۔ 5 ان میں سے ۴۰۰۰ دربان ہو نگے اور دوسرے ۴۰۰۰ موسیقی کے آلات کے ساتھ جسے کہ میں نے حمد کے لئے بنایا ہے۔ خداوند کی حمد کرینگے۔”
6 داؤد نے لا ویوں کو لاوی کے بیٹو ں کے مطابق جیر شون ، قہات اور مراری تین گروہو ں میں بانٹا۔
جیرشون کے خاندانی گروہ
7 جیرشون کے خاندانی گروہ سے لعدان اور سمعی تھے۔ 8 لعدان کے تین بیٹے تھے اس کا سب سے بڑا لڑکا یحی ایل تھا۔اس کے دوسرے بیٹے زیتام اور یو ئیل تھے۔ 9 سمعی کے تین بیٹے تھے: وہ سلومیت ، حزی ایل اور ہاران تھے۔ یہ تینوں بیٹے لعدان خاندان کے قائدین تھے۔
10 سمعی کے چار بیٹے تھے وہ یحت ، زیزا ، یعوس اور بریعہ تھے۔ 11 یحت بڑا بیٹا تھا اور زیزا دوسرا بیٹا تھا۔ لیکن یعوس اور بریعہ کے زیادہ بیٹے نہیں تھے اس لئے انہیں ایک ہی خاندان گنا گیا۔
قہات کے خاندانی گروہ
12 قہات کے چار بیٹے تھے وہ : عمرام ، اظہار ، حبرون اور عزی ایل تھے۔ 13 عمرام کے بیٹے : ہارون اور موسیٰ۔ ہارون اور اس کی نسلوں کا خاص کا ہنوں کے طور پر سب سے پاک چیزوں کو وقف کرنے کے لئے ، خداوند کے سامنے بخور جلانے کے لئے ،اس کی خدمت کرنے کے لئے اور اس کے نام پر ہمیشہ دعاء دینے کے لئے الگ کر دیئے گئے تھے۔
14 جیسا کہ موسیٰ خدا کا آدمی تھا ، اس کے بیٹو ں کو لا وی قبیلہ کے ساتھ گنا گیا تھا۔ 15 موسیٰ کے بیٹے جیرشون اور الیعزر تھے۔ 16 جیر شون کا بڑا بیٹا سبو ایل تھا۔ 17 الیعزر کا بڑا بیٹا رحبیاہ تھا۔ الیعزر کا کو ئی بیٹا نہیں تھا لیکن رحبیاہ کے کئی بیٹے تھے۔
18 اظہار کا بڑا بیٹا سلومیت تھا۔
19 حبرون کا بڑا بیٹا یریاہ تھا حبرون کا دوسرا بیٹا امریاہ ، یحزی ایل تیسرا بیٹا تھا اور یقیمعام چوتھا بیٹا تھا۔
20 عُزی ایل کا بڑا بیٹا میکاہ تھا اور یساہ دوسرا بیٹا تھا۔
مراری کے خاندانی گروہ
21 مراری کے بیٹے محلی اور موشی تھے۔ محلی کے بیٹے الیعزر اور قیس تھے۔ 22 الیعزر بغیر بیٹوں کے مر گیا۔ اس کو صرف بیٹیاں تھیں۔ الیعزر کی بیٹیوں نے ان کے رشتے داروں سے شادیاں کیں ان کے رشتے دار قیس کے بیٹے تھے۔ 23 موشی کے تین بیٹے تھے: وہ محلی ، عیدو اور یریموت تھے۔
لاویوں کے کام
24 لاوی کی نسلیں یہ تھیں۔ وہ اپنے خاندان اور خاندان کے قائدین کے مطابق فہرست میں تھے۔ وہ اپنے ناموں کے مطابق فہرست میں تھے اور فرداً فرداً خداوند کی ہیکل میں خدمت کرنے کیلئے گنے گئے تھے۔ اور وہ سب کو ئی بیس سال سے زیادہ عمر کے تھے۔
25 داؤد نے کہا تھا ، “اسرائیل کے خداوند خدا نے اپنے لوگوں کو سلامتی دی ہے۔ اور وہ ہمیشہ یروشلم میں رہے گا۔ 26 اور اس لئے لا ویوں کو مقدس خیمہ یا اس کے کام میں آنے وا لی کسی بھی چیز کو اب اور لے جانے کی کو ئی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔”
27 (داؤد کی آخری ہدایت کے مطابق وہ لا وی جو بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر کے تھے گنے گئے تھے۔)
28 لا ویوں کا کام خداوند کے گھر کی خدمت میں ہا رون کی نسلوں کی مدد کرنا تھا۔ انلوگو ں کا کام آنگن اور بغل کے کمروں کی دیکھ بھا ل کرنا ، ہیکل کی تمام چیزوں کو مقدس کرنا اور ان کی دیکھ بھال کرنا بھی تھا او ر ہیکل میں دوسرے کاموں کو بھی انجام دینا تھا۔ اس کے علاوہ وہ لوگ خدا کے گھر میں خدمت کرنے کے لئے امید کئے جا تے تھے۔ 29 ہیکل میں خاص روٹی کو میز پر رکھنے کی ذمّہ داری بھی ان کی ہی تھی۔ وہ آٹا ، اناج کے نذرانے کے اور بغیر خمیر کی رو ٹی کے لئے بھی ذ مّہ دار تھے۔ وہ پکانے کی کڑھائیوں، ملانے اور ناپ تول کرنے کے بھی ذمہ دار تھے۔ 30 وہ لوگ صبح کو شکر ادا کرنے اور حمد گانے کے لئے کھڑے ہو تے تھے اور ویسا ہی شام کو کر تے تھے۔ 31 اور جب کبھی بھی سبت کے دنوں میں ، نئے چاند کے دنوں میں ، تقریب کے موقع پر جلانے کا نذرانہ پیش کر تے تھے ویسا ہی کر تے تھے۔ اور وہ لوگ حسب معمول خداوند کے سامنے اسی طرح سے اور اتنی ہی بار جو ان کے لئے مقرر تھے کیا کرتے تھے۔ 32 اور اس لئے وہ لوگ مقدس خیمہ کے اصولوں، مقدس جگہ کے اصولوں اور ہارون کی نسلوں اور ان کے رشتے داروں کی ہدایتوں پر جو کہ خداوند کی ہیکل کی خدمت کے لئے تھے عمل کئے۔

The Levites
23 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon(A) king over Israel.(B)
2 He also gathered together all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites. 3 The Levites thirty years old or more(C) were counted,(D) and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.(E) 4 David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge(F) of the work(G) of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges.(H) 5 Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments(I) I have provided for that purpose.”(J)
6 David separated(K) the Levites into divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi:(L) Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
Gershonites
7 Belonging to the Gershonites:(M)
Ladan and Shimei.
8 The sons of Ladan:
Jehiel the first, Zetham and Joel—three in all.
9 The sons of Shimei:
Shelomoth, Haziel and Haran—three in all.
These were the heads of the families of Ladan.
10 And the sons of Shimei:
Jahath, Ziza,[a] Jeush and Beriah.
These were the sons of Shimei—four in all.
11 Jahath was the first and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; so they were counted as one family with one assignment.
Kohathites
12 The sons of Kohath:(N)
Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel—four in all.
13 The sons of Amram:(O)
Aaron and Moses.
Aaron was set apart,(P) he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the Lord, to minister(Q) before him and to pronounce blessings(R) in his name forever. 14 The sons of Moses the man(S) of God were counted as part of the tribe of Levi.
15 The sons of Moses:
Gershom and Eliezer.(T)
16 The descendants of Gershom:(U)
Shubael was the first.
17 The descendants of Eliezer:
Rehabiah(V) was the first.
Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.
18 The sons of Izhar:
Shelomith(W) was the first.
19 The sons of Hebron:(X)
Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth.
20 The sons of Uzziel:
Micah the first and Ishiah the second.
Merarites
21 The sons of Merari:(Y)
Mahli and Mushi.(Z)
The sons of Mahli:
Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleazar died without having sons: he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.(AA)
23 The sons of Mushi:
Mahli, Eder and Jerimoth—three in all.
24 These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more(AB) who served in the temple of the Lord. 25 For David had said, “Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest(AC) to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever, 26 the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service.”(AD) 27 According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.
28 The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification(AE) of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God. 29 They were in charge of the bread set out on the table,(AF) the special flour for the grain offerings,(AG) the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.(AH) 30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening(AI) 31 and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the Lord on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon(AJ) feasts and at the appointed festivals.(AK) They were to serve before the Lord regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.
32 And so the Levites(AL) carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting,(AM) for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.(AN)
