⁴ The One enthroned^(F) in heaven laughs;^(G)
    the Lord scoffs at them.

¹⁷ The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,^(A)
    all the nations that forget God.^(B)

¹⁹ Arise,^(A) Lord, do not let mortals triumph;^(B)
    let the nations be judged^(C) in your presence.
²⁰ Strike them with terror,^(D) Lord;
    let the nations know they are only mortal.^(E)

¹⁰ The Lord foils^(A) the plans^(B) of the nations;^(C)
    he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
¹¹ But the plans of the Lord stand firm^(D) forever,
    the purposes^(E) of his heart through all generations.

¹⁰ He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;^(A)
    I will be exalted^(B) among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

⁷ “Listen, my people, and I will speak;
    I will testify^(A) against you, Israel:
    I am God, your God.^(B)
8 I bring no charges^(C) against you concerning your sacrifices
    or concerning your burnt offerings,^(D) which are ever before me.
⁹ I have no need of a bull^(E) from your stall
    or of goats^(F) from your pens,^(G)
10 for every animal of the forest^(H) is mine,
    and the cattle on a thousand hills.^(I)

⁸ Rise up,^(A) O God, judge^(B) the earth,
    for all the nations are your inheritance.^(C)

¹³ Stop bringing meaningless offerings!^(A)
    Your incense^(B) is detestable^(C) to me.
New Moons,^(D) Sabbaths and convocations^(E)—
    I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
¹⁴ Your New Moon^(F) feasts and your appointed festivals^(G)
    I hate with all my being.^(H)
They have become a burden to me;^(I)
    I am weary^(J) of bearing them.
¹⁵ When you spread out your hands^(K) in prayer,
    I hide^(L) my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
    I am not listening.^(M)

Your hands^(N) are full of blood!^(O)

¹⁶ Wash^(P) and make yourselves clean.
    Take your evil deeds out of my sight;^(Q)
    stop doing wrong.^(R)
17 Learn to do right;^(S) seek justice.^(T)
    Defend the oppressed.^[a](U)
Take up the cause of the fatherless;^(V)
    plead the case of the widow.^(W)
