4 John:
To the seven churches in Asia.
Grace and peace(A) to you from[a] the One who is, who was, and who is coming;(B) from the seven spirits[b](C) before His throne; 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To Him who loves us and has set us free[c] from our sins by His blood, 6 and made us a kingdom,[d] priests[e](D) to His God and Father—the glory and dominion are His forever and ever. Amen.
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds,(E)
and every eye will see Him,
including those who pierced[f] Him.
And all the families of the earth[g](F)[h]
will mourn over Him.[i](G)[j]
This is certain. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,”(H) says the Lord God, “the One who is, who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.”
John’s Vision of the Risen Lord
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of God’s word and the testimony about Jesus.[k](I) 10 I was in the Spirit[l][m](J) on the Lord’s day,[n] and I heard a loud voice behind me like a trumpet 11 saying, “Write on a scroll[o] what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
12 I turned to see whose voice(K) it was that spoke to me. When I turned I saw seven gold lampstands,

4 John,
To the seven churches(A) in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you(B) from him who is, and who was, and who is to come,(C) and from the seven spirits[a](D) before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,(E) the firstborn from the dead,(F) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.(G)
To him who loves us(H) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,(I) 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests(J) to serve his God and Father(K)—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.(L)
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”[b](M)
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;(N)
and all peoples on earth “will mourn(O) because of him.”[c]
So shall it be! Amen.

John’s Vision of Christ
9 I, John,(S) your brother and companion in the suffering(T) and kingdom(U) and patient endurance(V) that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God(W) and the testimony of Jesus.(X) 10 On the Lord’s Day(Y) I was in the Spirit,(Z) and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,(AA) 11 which said: “Write on a scroll what you see(AB) and send it to the seven churches:(AC) to Ephesus,(AD) Smyrna,(AE) Pergamum,(AF) Thyatira,(AG) Sardis,(AH) Philadelphia(AI) and Laodicea.”(AJ)
12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,(AK)
