GOD’S WORD Translation
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When may I come to see God’s face?
3 My tears are my food day and night.
People ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 I will remember these things as I pour out my soul:
how I used to walk with the crowd
and lead it in a procession to God’s house.
⌞I sang⌟ songs of joy and thanksgiving
while crowds of people celebrated a festival.
5 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.
6 My soul is discouraged.
That is why I will remember you
in the land of Jordan, on the peaks of Hermon, on Mount Mizar.
7 One deep sea calls to another at the roar of your waterspouts.
All the whitecaps on your waves have swept over me.
8 The Lord commands his mercy during the day,
and at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will ask God, my rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?”
10 With a shattering blow to my bones,
my enemies taunt me.
They ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.
43 Judge me, O God,
and plead my case against an ungodly nation.
Rescue me from deceitful and unjust people.
2 You are my fortress, O God!
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?
3 Send your light and your truth.
Let them guide me.
Let them bring me to your holy mountain
and to your dwelling place.
4 Then let me go to the altar of God, to God my ⌞highest⌟ joy,
and I will give thanks to you on the lyre, O God, my God.

3 My tears(D) have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”(E)
4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:(F)
how I used to go to the house of God(G)
under the protection of the Mighty One[a]
with shouts of joy(H) and praise(I)
among the festive throng.(J)
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?(K)
Why so disturbed(L) within me?
Put your hope in God,(M)
for I will yet praise(N) him,
my Savior(O) and my God.(P)
6 My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember(Q) you
from the land of the Jordan,(R)
the heights of Hermon(S)—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep(T)
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.(U)
8 By day the Lord directs his love,(V)
at night(W) his song(X) is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.(Y)
9 I say to God my Rock,(Z)

10 My bones suffer mortal agony(AE)
as my foes taunt(AF) me,
saying to me all day long,

1 Vindicate me, my God,
and plead my cause(AI)
against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me(AJ) from those who are
deceitful and wicked.(AK)
2 You are God my stronghold.
Why have you rejected(AL) me?
Why must I go about mourning,(AM)
oppressed by the enemy?(AN)
3 Send me your light(AO) and your faithful care,(AP)
let them lead me;(AQ)
let them bring me to your holy mountain,(AR)
to the place where you dwell.(AS)
4 Then I will go(AT) to the altar(AU) of God,
to God, my joy(AV) and my delight.(AW)
I will praise you with the lyre,(AX)
O God, my God.
