³¹ Barzillai the Gileadite^(A) had come down from Rogelim and accompanied the king to the Jordan River to see him off at the Jordan. ³² Barzillai was a very old man—eighty years old—and since he was a very wealthy man, he had provided for the needs of the king while he stayed in Mahanaim.^(B)

⁷ “Show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite and let them be among those who eat at your table^(A) because they supported me when I fled from your brother Absalom.^(B)

⁶¹ and from the descendants of the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, the descendants of Barzillai—who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and who bore their name.
