31:1–55 In fulfillment of His promise in 28:15, the Lord led a chastened Jacob back to the Promised Land with great wealth at Laban’s expense, and over Laban’s opposition (v. 42). God remained faithful to His promises despite Jacob’s scheming and the pagan idolatry in his household (v. 19 and note; 28:20 note).
