4:2 hand. The Hebrew word for “hand” often connotes power. Against the oppressing hand of Egypt (3:8; 14:30; 18:10), the mighty hand of God will be stretched out (3:19–20). God will use the hand of Moses to show His power. Moses’ staff will become the staff of God (v. 20).
