23:5 does not my house stand so with God. David’s confidence rests not in his own righteousness but in the everlasting covenant made with him by a gracious God (7:11–16; 2 Chr. 13:5; 21:7; Ps. 89:3, 4, 28, 29; Is. 55:3; Ezek. 37:25, 26).
