  1. and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord where the ark of God was,
  2. Moreover, the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.
  3. When he came, behold, Eli was sitting on his seat by the road keeping watch, because his heart was anxious about the ark of God. And the man came to give a report in the city, and all the city cried out.

  7. And she named the boy Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel,” because the ark of God had been taken and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
  8. So she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, because the ark of God has been taken.”
  9. Capture of the Ark Provokes God

    Now the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
  10. Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon, and placed it beside Dagon.
  11. So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And as the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!”

  17. And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.
  18. The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem

    Now it was reported to King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” So David went and brought the ark of God up from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with joy.
  19. that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.”
  20. Now behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, carrying the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar came up until all the people had finished crossing over from the city.
  21. And the king said to Zadok, “Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the sight of the Lord, then He will bring me back and show me both it and His habitation.
  22. So Zadok and Abiathar returned the ark of God to Jerusalem and remained there.
  23. So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
  24. David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, which belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, the Lord who is enthroned above the cherubim, where His name is called.
  25. And they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
