Census Brings Plague
Then Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to count Israel.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

The Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”

Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing?

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not reach out and put your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

Satan Allowed to Test Job
Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

Job Loses His Health
Again, there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord.

The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds firm to his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”

Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has, he will give for his life.

So the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with severe boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

Joshua, the High Priest
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right to accuse him.

And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a log snatched from the fire?”

Then Jesus *said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”

And if Satan is casting out Satan, he has become divided against himself; how then will his kingdom stand?
-
But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but men’s.”

And He was in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving Him.

And so He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?

And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!

These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but on man’s.”

And He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning.

And if Satan also has been divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you claim that I cast out the demons by Beelzebul.
