    Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each person; and all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses.
  2. He said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord’; bake and boil what you will bake and boil [today], and all that remains left over put aside for yourselves to keep until morning.”
  3. Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field.
  4. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will be none [in the field].”
  5. See, the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you the bread for two days on the sixth day. Let every man stay in his place; no man is to leave his place on the seventh day.”
  6. “Remember the Sabbath (seventh) day to keep it holy (set apart, dedicated to God).
  7. but the seventh day is a Sabbath [a day of rest dedicated] to the Lord your God; on that day you shall not do any work, you or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock or the temporary resident (foreigner) who stays within your [city] gates.
  8. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested (ceased) on the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy [that is, set it apart for His purposes].

    “You shall sow your land six years and harvest its yield,
  10. The Sign of the Sabbath

    And the Lord said to Moses,
  11. “But as for you, say to the Israelites, ‘You shall most certainly observe My Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know [without any doubt] and acknowledge that I am the Lord who sanctifies you and sets you apart [for Myself].
  12. Therefore, you shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does work on the Sabbath, that person (soul) shall be cut off from among his people [excluding him from the atonement made for them].
  13. For six days work may be done, but the seventh is the Sabbath of complete rest, sacred to the Lord; whoever does work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
  14. So the Israelites shall observe the Sabbath, to celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.’
  15. “You shall work for six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; [even] in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest [on the Sabbath].
  16. The Sabbath Emphasized

    Moses gathered all the congregation of the sons of Israel together, and said to them, “These are the things which the Lord has commanded you to do:
  17. “For six days work may be done, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; whoever does any kind of work on that day shall be put to death.
  18. You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
  19. It is a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.
  20. Each of you shall respect his mother and his father, and you shall keep My Sabbaths; I am the Lord your God.
  21. You shall keep My Sabbaths and revere My sanctuary. I am the Lord.
  22. The Sabbath

    ‘For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation (calling together). You shall not do any work [on that day]; it is the Sabbath of the Lord wherever you may be.
  23. He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord so that you may be accepted; the priest shall wave it on the day after the Sabbath.
  24. The Feast of Weeks

    ‘You shall count from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf (tied bundle of grain) of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths (seven full weeks).
  25. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord.
