  1. The people all said to Samuel, “Pray to the Lord your God for your servants so that we will not die, for we have added to all our other sins the evil of asking for a king.”
  2. From the days of our ancestors until now, our guilt has been great. Because of our sins, we and our kings and our priests have been subjected to the sword and captivity, to pillage and humiliation at the hand of foreign kings, as it is today.

  12. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
  13. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
  14. who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
  15. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
  16. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
  17. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  18. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
  19. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
