  1. So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: “He will be called a Nazarene.”

  10. Jesus told her, “First I should feed the children—my own family, the Jews. It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.”
  11. “What?” they exclaimed. “There is no one in all your family by that name.”
  12. As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one.

    Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they couldn’t get to him because of the crowd.
  14. “No, go back to your family, and tell them everything God has done for you.” So he went all through the town proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.
  15. Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.”
  16. And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’
  17. He knew their thoughts, so he said, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart.
  18. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.
  19. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,
  20. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
  21. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
  22. A Temple for the Lord

    So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.
  23. He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him.
  24. May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains.
  25. It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.
