  15. with Heshbon, and all its cities which are on the plain: Dibon and Bamoth-baal and Beth-baal-meon,
  16. Then the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and proceeded to the cities of Mount Ephron; then the border curved to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).
  17. The border went around west from Baalah to Mount Seir, and passed along to the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh and then continued on through Timnah.
  18. The border proceeded to the slope [of the hill] of Ekron northward, then curved to Shikkeron and continued to Mount Baalah and proceeded to Jabneel. Then the border ended at the [Mediterranean] sea.
  19. Baalah and Iim and Ezem,
  20. Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.
  21. The border changed course [from there] and turned around on the western side southward, from the hill that lies to the south opposite Beth-horon; it ended at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city of [the tribe of] the sons of Judah. This formed the western side [of Benjamin’s territory].
  22. and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev (South country). This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families.
  23. and Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath,
  24. Israel Serves Baals

    Then the Israelites did evil in the sight of the Lord and worshiped and served the Baals,
  25. So they abandoned the Lord and served Baal [the pagan god of the Canaanites] and the Ashtaroth.
