  24. Offerings for Unintentional Sins

  147. Judgment on Jerusalem’s Sins

    The word of the Lord came to me:
  148. You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.”

  195. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

  223. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

  225. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

  227. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

  233. Made Alive in Christ

    As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
  234. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
  235. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
  236. in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.
  237. and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.
  238. Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
  239. The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.
  240. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,
  241. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
  242. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
  243. Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
  244. This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.
  245. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
  246. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
  247. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
  248. For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
  249. so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
  250. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.
  251. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.
  252. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
  253. Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
  254. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
  255. Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
  256. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
  257. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
  258. remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
  259. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
  260. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
  261. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
  262. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
  263. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  264. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
  265. Reasons for Writing

    I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
  266. Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
  267. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.
  268. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
