The Throne and Worship of the Creator

⁵ Out from the throne *came ^(A)flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were ^(B)seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are ^[a](C)the seven spirits of God; ⁶ and before the throne there was something like a ^(D)sea of glass, like crystal; and in the ^[b]center and ^(E)around the throne, ^(F)four living creatures ^(G)full of eyes in front and behind. ^7 (H)The first living creature was like a lion, the second creature like a calf, the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. ⁸ And the ^(I)four living creatures, each one of them having ^(J)six wings, are ^(K)full of eyes around and within; and ^(L)day and night ^[c]they do not cease to say,

⁹ And when the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who ^(P)sits on the throne, to ^(Q)Him who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰ the ^(R)twenty-four elders will ^(S)fall down before Him who ^(T)sits on the throne, and they will worship ^(U)Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their ^(V)crowns before the throne, saying,

⁵ And within it there were figures resembling ^(A)four living beings. And this was their appearance: they had human ^(B)form. ⁶ Each of them had ^(C)four faces and ^(D)four wings. ⁷ Their legs were straight and ^[a]their feet were like a calf’s ^[b]hoof, and they sparkled like ^(E)polished bronze. ⁸ Under their wings on their ^(F)four sides were human ^(G)hands. As for the faces and wings of the four of them, ⁹ their wings touched one another; their faces did ^(H)not turn when they moved, each ^(I)went straight forward. ¹⁰ As for the ^(J)form of their faces, each had a human ^(K)face; ^[c]all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and ^[d]all four had the face of an eagle.

¹¹ Therefore as I live,’ declares the Lord God, ‘Because you have ^(A)defiled My sanctuary with all your ^(B)detestable idols and with all your abominations, I definitely will also withdraw and My eye will have no pity, and I also will not spare. ¹² A third of you will die by ^(C)plague or perish by famine among you, a third will fall by the sword around you, and a third I will ^(D)scatter to every wind, and I will ^(E)unsheathe a sword behind them.

¹³ ‘Then My anger will be spent and I will satisfy My wrath on them, and I will be ^(F)appeased; then they will know that I, the Lord, have ^(G)spoken in My zeal, when I have spent My wrath upon them. ¹⁴ Moreover, I will make you a site of ruins and a ^(H)disgrace among the nations that surround you, in the sight of everyone who passes by.
